So we've had a couple of quite weeks around here. I've been effectively buried by schoolwork (I seem to have forgotten that part of being a student once I was out for a few years), and Kris has been slogging through a typical work week, while battling off a cold at the same time.
This past week, we both had our theory exam for SCUBA diving, and we're happy to report that we both passed. Now we just have a series of open water dives / test to fully gain our certification and we'll be ready to dive in the wild blue yonders.
I've been passing much of the last week studying for my last exams of this masters. It's hard to believe, but I have no more formal classes to attend. The rest of my time is going to be a short research project, a 3 week group project, and many months of my dissertation.
The exams (from my perspective) went well, and I'm awfully happy to have them behind me now.
We also had our first familiar face from home come to visit. Dad, doing what Dad is best at, re-routed his flights on a trip to Abu Dhabi, to conveniently arrange a 32 hour layover in Heathrow Airport. He popped up here yesterday morning, we caught up over a cuppa, then rejoined after my exam for a quick tour of campus, a delicious meal just outside of Loughborough, a 'real ale' pint in a local pub, and this morning a proper English breakfast to send him back off down the M1 to Heathrow to catch his flight onwards.
It was a whirlwind, but as though we'd have it any other way.
I realized about an hour after he left we didn't even get a picture :(
More adventures ahead, including Oslo next weekend, and Switzerland the following weekend, our SCUBA open water dives, a visit from Whitney, and a trip to Malta, all before the middle of April.... oh yea, and my research dissertation too ;)
