Our 'Canada Day'

We're back!!!!

This post is a quick one from St. John's International Airport as we wait to board our last flight of this adventure back to Ottawa.

We've had a great day, and year (the reminiscing about the year will be forthcoming).

We stayed with friends Dave and Sarah, who live in the West of London, so we could see them one last time, and shorten our morning drive to the airport.

Just as it started, so it ends.
Arrived at Gatwick and slowly hauled all our baggage, literally everything we own through the airport to the checkin counter.

I don't think 4 bags have ever come across the weigh scale closer to, but not over, the limit before.  Four bags between 22 and 23 kgs; and one packed completely full that only tipped 19 kgs.

Through security, we had our very last 'full english', that's the breakfast, including bacon rashers, sausages, mushrooms, grilled tomato and baked beans.  It was expensive, and mediocre, just as you'd expect a Weatherspoons to be.

We had a lovely flight back to St. John's.  After the soulless travel that is Ryanair, we were so delighted by the great character and experience of WestJet.  Kris particularly laughed when the flight attendent stated: "If you are travelling with any children, or adults who are acting like children ...".

We arrived in St. John's, and are so happy this is where we cleared customs.  Literally only our 1/3 full plane was waiting to see a customs agent.

Empty plane means we got the emergency row, with extra leg room
Re-checking our bags (don't ask), they include a British flag on the check-in counter to identify where you need to go
Out of the gate, through customs and security (read: now we've officially, although not sufficiently visited Newfoundand); we found a Tim Hortons for our first 'back in Canada drink'.

It's just as I remember it.

Into St. Johns Airport, Kris likes the ship theme

Now we're about to board the last trip.  Suffice it to say, it's good to be home.  We can't wait to be back in Ottawa, and see everyone again soon.

We'll be without telecoms for the next day or so as we set up internet and phones again.  Keep posted to facebook (Kristin's), or here, for details when we're back online.
